Workspace, layers and navigation

Select and arrange layers, use contextual tabs, navigate the canvas and recover changes without altering your artwork accidentally.

Tools and contextual properties

Select an object to open its properties, then choose the tab for the setting you want to change.

  1. Open a tool in the rail, or select an existing canvas object.
  2. Use the property tabs to choose Typography, Shape, Fill or another relevant group.
  3. Scroll the tab row horizontally when the desired tab is offscreen.
  4. On a small screen, drag the panel resize handle to make room for the canvas or controls.

Expected result: Only controls relevant to the selected object or tool are shown; resizing the panel does not change the artwork.

The header contains file actions, undo, redo, Generate, saving and export. The tool rail opens backgrounds, text, photos and collages, cards, drawing, layers, canvas settings and saved posts.

Selecting an object opens the relevant properties. Typography keeps searchable fonts, font size, alignment, direction, spacing and canvas resize mode together. Shape, Fill, Outline, Shadow and Arrange remain separate tabs. Horizontally scroll the tab row when it does not fit.

On mobile the tool rail becomes a bottom dock. Drag the panel's resize handle to trade space between the canvas and controls; the handle also supports keyboard resizing.

Select, duplicate, lock and order layers

Use Layers to select an object and the selected-layer toolbar to duplicate, lock, reorder or delete it.

  1. Open Layers and select the item by its thumbnail or text snippet.
  2. Use Duplicate for an independent copy, or Lock to prevent accidental edits.
  3. Use Bring layer forward or Send layer backward to change overlap.
  4. Open Arrange for position, size, rotation and opacity, or use visibility to hide an item temporarily.

Expected result: Content layers remain individually editable; background overlays are controlled separately in Appearance.

Select an object on the canvas or in Layers. Photo thumbnails, text snippets and color previews help distinguish items. The selected-layer toolbar keeps lock, duplicate, bring forward, send backward and delete available above the property tabs.

Arrange adjusts the frame, rotation and opacity. Layer order decides what covers what. Lock items you do not want to move accidentally; hide an item when comparing alternatives. Background overlays are managed separately in Background.

A post supports up to eighty content layers. Duplicating a layer is useful for repeated labels or cards, but remove unused alternatives from the final composition.

How do I remember or reset editor defaults?

Committed supported settings become defaults for new work in this browser. Reset remembered defaults in Canvas restores defaults without replacing the current post.

  1. Apply a built-in or device font, choose a canvas size, or commit background settings you want to reuse.
  2. Choose your background style, generation locks and export options deliberately; these preferences are browser-local.
  3. Start new work to use the remembered defaults; opening a saved document restores that document instead.
  4. To clear preferences, open Canvas size and name and press Reset remembered defaults.

Expected result: New work uses the supported defaults, while the current artwork and saved library remain intact when preferences are reset.

Remembered preferences include reusable font family, canvas dimensions, background style and settings, palette locking, randomization, export format and scale. They are not a copy of every layer property. Uploaded font assets belong to their document rather than becoming a global font default.

Preferences, current-post autosave and named library snapshots serve different purposes. Keep .kruti backups for complete editable artwork.

Previews, undo and redo

Use Undo or Redo in the header. Each font selection commits directly; collage previews wait for Apply.

  1. Finish a slider gesture or choose a font to make one edit.
  2. Press Undo to restore the previous committed state.
  3. Press Redo to reapply it, or cancel a collage before applying it.
  4. Save a snapshot or download .kruti when you need recovery beyond the short undo history.

Expected result: You can reverse committed edits without treating every intermediate slider value as a separate step.

A finished slider gesture becomes one history step. Font selection loads and commits only the chosen family; failed loading leaves the previous font unchanged. Collage browsing remains a preview until Apply, and Cancel leaves the image frames unchanged.

Ctrl or Command + Z undoes; Shift + Ctrl or Command + Z redoes. Ctrl or Command + S saves a snapshot to your library. History holds twenty changes and is not stored in .kruti files.
